More on Coffee from Brazil:
Coffee was introduced to Brazil in the early 18th century, and by the 19th century, it had become the country's most important export. The first coffee plants were brought from French Guiana around 1727, and the favorable climate and fertile soil of southeastern Brazil, particularly in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Minas Gerais, helped the crop flourish. During the 1800s, Brazil rapidly expanded its coffee plantations, relying heavily on enslaved labor until the abolition of slavery in 1888. Afterward, European immigrants, especially Italians, provided much of the workforce. By the early 20th century, Brazil had become the world's largest coffee producer, a title it still holds today. Coffee profoundly shaped Brazil’s economy, infrastructure, and society, influencing the development of railroads, ports, and even political power structures. Brazil today remains to be the top Exporter of Arabica coffee worldwide, influencing the commodity market prices for the entire industry.
